[i] His debut novel, which he began writing nearly a year after the fatal car accident that killed his best friend. It was accepted by Black Springs Press in June of 2009. It was inspired by his relationship with Bobbie Lamont during the summer of 1990 in Birmingham, Alabama.
[ii] Miller’s roommate when he was a freshman at the University of Arkansas, Mason Stern, was killed on July 4, 2004 by his ex-girlfriend. Miller was given the journal Mason kept and used it as the basis of his second novel.
[iii] Miller’s friend, Eli Sanchez, was killed in May of 1991. The main character of Miller’s third novel was based on him and Miller’s memories of their friendship.
